Shenango Uses Early Surge to Topple Fayette 8-5
Penn State Shenango combined a potent offense with steady pitching to secure an 8-5 victory over Penn State Fayette at Pemberton Park. The win moved Shenango to a 8-4 record in conference play, fueled by a big early inning and a disciplined performance at the plate.
The offense ignited in the 1st inning, crossing the plate five times to take an early lead. Anthony Miller led the charge, finishing a perfect 3-for-3 with two triples and a homerun while driving in two runs. Dante Micaletti, Jason Malley, and Nate Evans also provided key RBI contributions to keep the pressure on Fayette throughout the afternoon. Shenango was active on the basepaths as well, totaling five stolen bases, including two from Dominic Fornataro.
Nate Evans earned the win on the mound, striking out nine batters over 6.0 innings of work. After Fayette rallied with five runs in the 3rd, Evans settled in to keep the visitors scoreless for the remainder of his outing. Brady Walker entered in the 7th to close the door, tossing a hitless final frame to earn his third save of the season.
