Shenango Clinches Series with Explosive Performance Over New Kensington
Penn State Shenango continued its early conference dominance on Sunday, utilizing a 17-hit attack to overpower Penn State New Kensington 12-2. The victory marks a successful weekend stretch as Shenango's disciplined approach at the plate and aggressive baserunning proved too much for the opposition to handle.
The offense set the tone early and never relented, scoring in five of the seven innings played. After a steady start, Shenango broke the game open in the middle frames, highlighted by a five-run outburst in the 3rd inning. The lineup's depth was on full display as every starter recorded at least one hit, and the team combined to swipe six bases, constantly moving runners into scoring position.
Leading the charge was Dominic Fornataro, who turned in a massive 3-hit performance and scored three times to ignite the top of the order. He was well-supported by Nate Evans and Troy Bachman, who each accounted for multiple runs. John Perry also played a pivotal role in the power department, racking up two doubles and driving in two runs.
On the mound, Will Perry delivered a masterful complete-game performance to earn his third win of the season. Perry was in total control throughout his seven innings of work, surrendering only three hits and two runs while striking out six. He sat down the New Kensington hitters with efficiency, requiring only 90 pitches to navigate the lineup and secure the conference win.
