Shenango Battles Tough in Road Test Against Unbeaten Butler County CC
October 7, 2025 | Butler, PA — The Penn State Shenango Women's Volleyball team hit the road Tuesday night to face one of their toughest opponents yet, falling 3–0 to the undefeated Butler County Community College squad inside the BC3 Fieldhouse. Despite the straight-set loss (18–25, 21–25, 17–25), Shenango displayed grit and determination throughout the match against the nationally recognized program.
Leading the offensive effort was Izzy Mauro, who tallied 13 kills on 31 total attempts to hit an impressive .226 for the night — her highest efficiency in recent games. Sydney Ward added six kills and six digs, while Savana Shipman contributed four kills, one service ace, and a team-high 14 digs to help anchor the backcourt.
Setter Jadeyn Zepeda was again a key piece of Shenango's offensive rhythm, recording 23 assists and four service aces, while Taegan Scheller chipped in three aces and solid serving runs that kept Shenango within striking distance in each set.
Defensively, Shenango battled hard against Butler's quick offense. The team combined for 39 digs, led by Shipman and Jillian Palumbo (7 digs), to extend rallies and keep plays alive.
With the loss, Penn State Shenango moves to 9–6 overall but remains 7–0 in PSUAC conference play, maintaining their lead in the division standings. Butler County CC, now 15–0, continued their dominant non-conference streak.
