Shenango Offense Powers Past Greater Allegheny
Penn State Shenango showcased a relentless offensive attack on Sunday, using a barrage of homeruns to secure a 9-6 victory over Penn State Greater Allegheny. The win pushes Shenango to a 20-16 overall record and a 13-6 mark in conference play, proving their resilience in a back-and-forth contest.
The game began as a pitcher's duel through the first two innings, but the bats ignited in the third. Shenango struck first when Anthony Miller cleared the fence for a three-run home run to jump out to a 3-0 lead. Greater Allegheny managed to surge ahead in the bottom of the inning, but the lead was short-lived as Shenango regained control in the fourth. Mikey Guarnieri delivered the definitive blow of the afternoon, launching a massive three-run home run that capped off a four-run frame and put Shenango back in front 7-4.
Shenango continued to apply pressure in the later innings, adding to their lead when Mason Bevan belted a solo home run in the sixth, to score the team's ninth run. On the mound, JA Quahliero earned the win with five solid innings of work, while Brady Walker was lights-out in relief, striking out two to earn his seventh save of the year.
