Shenango Falls in Hard-Fought Battle Against Greater Allegheny
Penn State Shenango hosted Greater Allegheny on Friday, in a tightly contested matchup that saw the home team drop a 4-2 decision. The result brings Shenango's season record to 18-16, with an 11-6 mark in conference play.
The game began with Greater Allegheny taking an early lead, scoring single runs in the first, second, and third innings. Shenango responded in the bottom of the second inning to get on the board, but the offense found it difficult to string together hits against the opposing starter. Defensively, Shenango worked hard to keep the game within reach. Will Perry provided a workhorse performance on the mound, lasting six full innings and navigating through heavy traffic to keep the score competitive. The defense behind him was tested often, recording 21 putouts and 10 assists throughout the seven-inning contest.
