Shenango Falls to Penn State DuBois Despite Strong Effort on the Mound
Penn State Shenango dropped a 5–1 decision to Penn State DuBois on Tuesday, struggling to generate offense against a strong complete-game performance from the DuBois pitching staff.
Shenango was limited to just three hits on the day, with Troy Bachman, Nate Evans, and Tyler Evans each recording one hit. Tyler Evans also scored the team's lone run, while Anthony Miller drove in Shenango's only RBI. The Lions broke through in the third inning, plating their only run of the game, but were unable to build momentum as DuBois responded with a three-run inning of their own to take control.
On the mound, Jacob Csonka took the loss, allowing four runs over two innings. JA Quahliero provided a solid middle relief effort, giving up just one run across three innings, while Dominic Fornataro closed the game with a scoreless inning and two strikeouts.
Defensively, Shenango turned in a steady performance, but five walks and 11 hits allowed proved costly against a DuBois lineup that capitalized on scoring opportunities.
Penn State Shenango will look to bounce back as the team continues its conference schedule.
