Shenango Secures High-Scoring Victory to Sweep New Kensington
Penn State Shenango capped off a dominant conference weekend with a high-octane 12-6 victory over Penn State New Kensington on Sunday. Displaying relentless pressure on the basepaths and timely extra-base hits, Shenango utilized a 10-hit performance to dismantle the New Kensington pitching staff.
The game opened with New Kensington taking an early 2-0 lead, but Shenango responded immediately with a four-run explosion in the top of the 2nd inning. After a brief stalemate, the offense surged again in the 4th, 5th, and 6th frames, plating seven combined runs to effectively put the game out of reach. Aggressive baserunning proved to be a deciding factor, as the team successfully converted seven stolen bases, including key swipes from Troy Bachman and Nate Evans.
Individual performances highlighted the lineup's depth, with John Perry leading the way by driving in four runs.
