Shenango Falls to Lorain County in Series Finale
Penn State Shenango baseball concluded its weekend series against Lorain County Community College on Sunday, dropping a 6-3 decision at ForeFront Field. Despite out-hitting the opposition, Shenango was unable to overcome a middle-inning surge by the hosts.
Shenango's offense found its rhythm in the fifth inning, plating three runs to stay within striking distance. Dominic Fornataro led the way with a three-hit performance, while Nate Evans continued his productive weekend by going 3-for-4 with two RBIs. Jason Malley also contributed an RBI and a run scored, while Will Nardone reached base three times via 2 walks and a hit.
On the mound, Brady Walker went four innings, navigating a tight contest and striking out two. Shaun Updegraff and JA Quahliero provided relief out of the bullpen, with the staff combining for nine strikeouts on the day. Defensively, Shenango remained clean in the field, recording no errors throughout the seven-inning contest. However, Lorain County capitalized on timely hitting and base runners to secure the victory and take the season series.
Shenango finishes the weekend looking to carry the momentum of its 10-hit performance into its next matchup.
