Sullivan Leads Penn State Shenango at Bethany Invitational
September 14, 2025
Bethany, WV – Penn State Shenango Cross Country was on the course this past weekend at the Bethany Invitational, taking on a strong field of NCAA Division II and III programs. Despite racing as an incomplete team, the Lions made their presence known with a standout performance.
Sophomore Faith Sullivan paced Shenango with an impressive 6K time of 25:37.5, placing her in the top half of the 82-woman field. Sullivan ran a consistent race, holding steady through the splits and closing strong to cross just behind runners from established programs such as Franciscan and Waynesburg.
The Bethany Invitational featured some of the region's toughest competition, with Franciscan claiming the team title behind five runners inside the top 10. St. Vincent and West Liberty rounded out the top three.
For Penn State Shenango, Sullivan's effort served as another step forward in building the young program's presence on the course. Her result against experienced competitors is a sign of growth and determination as the season progresses.
Up Next: The Lions return to action on Saturday, Sept. 20, competing at Allegheny College with the women's race set to begin at 10:30 AM.
