Javens Named Inaugural Cross Country Coach
SHARON, Pa.– Penn State Shenango Athletics has named Amy Javens as the new Head Co-Ed Cross Country Coach for the inaugural program beginning in Fall 2024.
Javens is a well-known figure in the local running community. She is a former professional athlete, holding her USA Triathlon Elite card. Her accolades include Los Cabos Champion, Beach 2 Battleship Iron Distance Champion, multiple Ironman World Championships, and a Boston Marathon qualifier.
Amy was elected to the Mercer County Hall of Fame after her illustrious high school athletic career at Hickory High School. While at Hickory, Javens set multiple records and won a state title in the 300-meter hurdles.
"I am looking forward to playing my part in the development of local Penn State Shenango student-athletes," said Javens. "We have such strong talent in our own backyard, and to be able to offer life advancing opportunities for local runners to experience college athletics and academics will only propel our community forward."
Javens completed her Bachelor's Degree in Education at Slippery Rock University and her Master's of Education Leadership and Administration at Westminster College
