Shenango Volleyball Sweeps Major PSUAC Awards in Standout 2025 Season
SHARON, PA — The Penn State Shenango Women's Volleyball team made its presence felt across the Pennsylvania State University Athletic Conference (PSUAC) this season, earning several major honors in the 2025 All-Conference Awards. The Lady Lions' accomplishments reflect the continued growth and excellence of Shenango's athletic program under head coach Andrew Frank.
Leading the recognition list, Izzy Mauro was named West Co-Player of the Year, celebrating her powerful offensive play and consistent leadership throughout the season. Mauro also earned the John Fritz Sportsmanship Award, honoring her positive example both on and off the court. Freshman standout Savana Shipman captured the West Rookie of the Year title after a breakout season that showcased her all-around skill and competitive drive. Jadeyn Zepeda earned West Co-Specialist of the Year, demonstrating elite precision and command at the setter position.
Head coach Andrew Frank was named PSUAC Coach of the Year, capping an impressive campaign that saw Shenango emerge as one of the most disciplined and cohesive teams in the conference. Under Frank's leadership, the Lions displayed balance, teamwork, and continuous improvement throughout the year.
In addition to these top honors, four Shenango players were named to the PSUAC West Division First Team — Mauro, Shipman, Sydney Ward, and Zepeda — underscoring the team's talent across all areas of play. Defensive specialist Jillian Palumbo also earned Honorable Mention for her consistency and impact in the backcourt.
"I could not be more proud of Coach Frank for receiving a well-deserved honor like Coach of the Year," said Brandon Padgett, Director of Athletics. "Additionally, I am overjoyed for so many of our amazing student-athletes being recognized for their outstanding achievements! When something like this happens, I am immediately reminded by the fact that it takes an entire team, coaches and players, for individual achievements like this to occur. What is made obvious is that we have amazing coaches and amazing players with outstanding individual abilities that are able to be highlighted because of the total team effort!"
With multiple major awards, four First Team selections, and broad recognition for both players and coaches, Penn State Shenango has firmly established itself as one of the PSUAC's premier volleyball programs. The blend of veteran leadership and rising young talent promises continued success for the Lions moving forward.
