New Kensington, PA – October 18, 2025
The Penn State Shenango Women's Volleyball team continued its dominant season Saturday afternoon, sweeping Penn State New Kensington in straight sets (25-12, 25-14, 25-13). The victory improves Shenango's record to 12-8 overall and a perfect 10-0 in conference play, marking a historic milestone — no other volleyball team in Penn State Shenango history has ever gone undefeated in PSUAC play.
Shenango once again displayed its offensive depth and consistency, hitting .467 as a team while holding New Kensington to just .095. Savana Shipman led the charge with 14 kills on .611 hitting, while Izzy Mauro followed closely with nine kills and an impressive .667 hitting percentage. Sydney Ward added nine kills, three aces, and three blocks, powering the offense with her trademark energy and precision. Setter Jadeyn Zepeda commanded the floor with 17 assists, while Taylor Burns provided steady two-way play across all rotations. Jillian Palumbo anchored the defense with 19 digs, and Gabby Villanueva Santos chipped in eight digs and an ace to round out another all-around team performance. The Lady Lions were unstoppable from the first serve to the final point, never allowing New Kensington to reach 15 points in any set.
Now, the Lady Lions prepare to bring postseason volleyball back home to Sharon. Penn State Shenango will host a PSUAC Quarterfinal Playoff Game on Thursday, October 23, at 7:00 PM, facing the winner of West #5 Penn State DuBois at West #4 Penn State Beaver. The night will feature a full-on White Out — fans are encouraged to pack the gym in white and make it the loudest atmosphere in Shenango history.
This team has already made history, but their story isn't done yet. Let's fill the stands, raise the volume, and help fuel the Lady Lions as they begin their PSUAC Championship run!
