Shenango Volleyball Extends Winning Streak with Road Victory at CCBC
Monaca, PA – Penn State Shenango Women's Volleyball kept its momentum rolling Monday night, earning a 3-1 road win over CCBC (25-22, 24-26, 25-11, 25-19) inside the Golden Dome. The victory marks the Lions' third straight, improving their record to 7-6 overall.
After a tight first set went Shenango's way, CCBC responded in the second, pulling out a 26-24 win to even the match. From there, however, Shenango took complete control. The Lions dominated the third set 25-11 and closed out the match with a balanced attack in the fourth. Savana Shipman led the way with a match-high 16 kills, 13 digs, and two service aces, finishing with 18 total points. Izzy Mauro followed with another strong outing, collecting 10 kills, six service aces, and 16.0 points overall.
Freshman Taegan Scheller had a breakout performance at the service line, recording five aces to go along with six kills, while Sydney Ward added 10 kills, eight digs, and a block. Setter Jadeyn Zepeda distributed the offense efficiently, finishing with 39 assists, while also contributing defensively with six digs and a block. Amanda Hamilton chipped in five kills and six digs to give Shenango a steady presence at the net. Defensively, Shenango racked up 64 digs as a team, with Shipman (13), Ward (8), and Gabby Villanueva Santos (10) anchoring the back row.
The Lions now turn their attention to a busy and meaningful stretch of October conference matchups. Shenango will travel to Penn State Greater Allegheny on Wednesday, Oct. 1, before returning home to face Penn State Fayette on Saturday, Oct. 4 at 12 PM. The following week, the Lions head to Butler County CC on Tuesday, Oct. 7, then host Penn State DuBois on Thursday, Oct. 9 at 6 PM for their annual Pink Out Game and Senior Night.
