Penn State Shenango Falls on the Road at Carlow

Penn State Shenango dropped a non-conference matchup on Monday night, falling in straight sets to Carlow by scores of 25–8, 25–14, and 25–18. The loss moves Shenango to 4–6 overall on the season.
Shenango struggled to find consistency on the attack, finishing with 18 kills and 24 errors for a -.065 hitting percentage as a team. Taylor Burns led the Lady Lions with seven kills on 25 swings, while Izzy Mauro added five kills and two block assists for 6.5 total points. Sydney Ward chipped in four kills and three digs, and Savana Shipman contributed one kill, 12 attempts, and 12 digs defensively.
Setter Jadeyn Zepeda handed out 12 assists while collecting five digs and an ace. Taegan Scheller was effective at the service line, leading Shenango with three aces, while Jillian Palumbo posted a team-high four digs in the back row. Defensively, Shenango tallied 40 total digs, but Carlow's balanced attack proved too much. The Celtics hit .277 as a team, led by Rebecca Hess (11 kills, .364 hitting, 12.5 points) and Paige Keller (seven kills, .417 hitting). Carlow also held a 45–25 advantage in total points.
The Lady Lions will look to regroup quickly as they return to conference action this week.
