Shenango Outlasts Fayette in Five-Set Battle

The Penn State Shenango Women's Volleyball team fought through a back-and-forth contest on Saturday morning, earning a gritty 3–2 road victory over Penn State Fayette. The Lady Lions jumped out to an early lead with wins in the first two sets (25–18, 25–17), dropped the next two (13–25, 18–25), and then secured the decisive fifth set 15–10 to remain unbeaten in conference play.
Sydney Ward powered Shenango's attack with a match-high 15 kills on 41 attempts, hitting .244 while also adding 10 digs and an ace for 16 total points. Izzy Mauro delivered one of her strongest performances of the season, recording 11 kills on .250 hitting along with two block assists and 13 points. Savana Shipman joined them in double figures with 11 kills, 12 digs, and a service ace.
Setter Jadeyn Zepeda guided the offense with 39 assists, while also contributing three kills and 10 digs. Taylor Burns chipped in with six kills, 11 digs, and a service ace, and Amanda Hamilton added two kills plus a block assist. Defensively, Jillian Palumbo led all players with 20 digs, anchoring the back row, while Emma Murdock added 11. In total, Shenango collected 85 digs and limited Fayette to a .071 hitting percentage across the match.
The Lady Lions were effective from the service line as well, finishing with eight aces, led by Palumbo and Taegan Scheller with two apiece.
The victory marks Shenango's third straight conference win, improving their record to 3–0 in league play.
