GIRARD HIGH SCHOOL STAR JENNA BORNEMISS COMMITS TO CONTINUE HER CAREER AT PENN STATE SHENANGO

SHARON, PA- Head Volleyball Coach Nicole Nych announced another commitment to her Lion's program, Jenna Bornemiss, from Girard High School.

Bornemiss is the daughter of Joe and Renee Bornemiss of Girard, Ohio.   She has two older siblings, Michael and Cara.  Jenna began attending volleyball camps sponsored by the Girard Varsity Volleyball Program in the 3rd grade.  By the time she was in 9th grade, she realized she wanted to play college volleyball.  She began working at achieving her dream by playing Junior Olympics Volleyball as well as working out in the offseason and working on her techniques.  She credits much of her success to Coach Phil Walters, who encouraged her, made sure she played Junior Olympics Volleyball and worked with her in the offseason over the past six years.  During her career, both at the high school level and in Junior Olympics Jenna plays as a setter.  Jenna also spent significant time perfecting her serve, with the help of Coach Chelsea Guerrieri and Coach Ashley Morley, who worked with her in achieving spot and short serves, obtained a serving rate of 96% in her senior year.

Jenna is very determined in the classroom as well as on the court. She has a 3.4 GPA, is a member of Beta Club, National Honor Society, Teen Institute, and Italian Club.

Jenna is excited to be part of the Penn State Family and is looking forward to playing for Penn State Shenango's first women's volleyball team.  Go Nittany Lions!
