Season Ends as Shenango Falls to Beaver in PSUAC Quarterfinals
The Penn State Shenango Women's Basketball team saw their 2025-26 season come to a close on Tuesday night, falling 87-43 to a powerhouse Penn State Beaver squad (21-4) in the PSUAC Tournament Quarterfinals. Facing the West Division's top seed on the road, the Lions struggled to overcome a relentless Beaver defense that forced 37 turnovers.
Alyssa Crankfield led the way for Shenango in the final game of the campaign, finishing with a double-double of 16 points and 12 rebounds. Crankfield was a bright spot in a difficult offensive night, connecting on two triples and adding two blocks and two steals. Despite the lopsided final score, Shenango started strong, actually leading 14-11 at the end of the first quarter. However, Beaver flipped the script in the middle frames, outscoring Shenango 51-19 across the second and third quarters to pull away.
Samair Colon, coming off a historic triple-double in her previous outing, was hounded by the Beaver backcourt all night. She managed six points and four assists but was forced into 12 turnovers by Beaver's full-court press. Oyin Adio also tallied six points to go along with seven rebounds and three steals. Off the bench, Shelby McBryar contributed six points, while Gabrielle King added five points and four rebounds. Caroline Kuchling and Bri Krenzer each chipped in two points to round out the scoring.
The loss marks the end of a season of growth for the Lions, highlighted by a strong push in the second half of the year to secure a postseason berth. With several key contributors eligible to return, the foundation is set for the program to continue its upward trajectory in the PSUAC.
