In a historic performance on Sunday afternoon, the Penn State Shenango Women's Basketball team (8-13, 6-9) rode a spectacular triple-double from Samair Colon to secure an 82-64 victory over Penn State New Kensington at the Buhl Club.
Colon was the undisputed star of the game, putting together a stat line that rewrote the record books. The dynamic guard finished with 26 points, 11 rebounds, and 10 assists, marking the first triple-double in recent program history. Colon was lethal from beyond the arc, knocking down four three-pointers, and clinical from the free-throw line (6-of-9). While Colon orchestrated the perimeter, Alyssa Crankfield was an unstoppable force in the paint. Crankfield notched a massive double-double of her own, hauling in a game-high 17 rebounds to go along with 21 points. She also anchored the defensive end with three blocks, helping Shenango maintain a double-digit lead for the majority of the second half.
Shenango's balanced attack featured three players in double figures. Oyin Adio provided consistent secondary scoring with 14 points, while also making her presence felt defensively with four steals. Shelby McBryar provided a spark off the bench with 12 points, going 4-of-8 from the floor to help keep the offense fluid. Gabrielle King added seven points and five rebounds in the starting lineup, while Bri Krenzer chipped in two points and Caroline Kuchling contributed two assists to the winning effort.
