Shenango Battles Through Four Quarters in Matchup with Hazleton
The Penn State Shenango Women's Basketball team (2-9, 1-5) put together a strong effort on Friday night, showing fight and energy throughout the game, but ultimately fell to Penn State Hazleton, 69–55, in PSUAC action.
Shenango came out with good pace early, moving the ball well and matching Hazleton's intensity in the opening stretch. Shenango traded baskets and stayed within striking distance as both teams settled into the flow of the game. As the first half progressed, Hazleton was able to put together a scoring run, but Shenango continued to respond with timely stops and aggressive play on both ends. Shenango stayed composed, pushing in transition when opportunities opened up and working hard to create good looks to gain a lead.
In the second half, Shenango continued to compete with high effort, cutting into the lead and keeping the pressure on, refusing to let the game get away as they battled through every possession. Hazleton was able to close out the game late, but Shenango's fight and resilience stood out as the team continues to build momentum through conference play. Samair Colon led Shenango in scoring with 18 points and six assists, while Alyssa Crankfield pulled down eight rebounds.
Penn State Shenango will look to carry that same energy into their Saturday matchup against Scranton as PSUAC action continues.
