King Shines as Shenango Shows Fight in Road Battle at Beaver
Monaca, PA – Even on a tough night on the scoreboard, the Penn State Shenango Women's Basketball team showed plenty of fight, flashes of firepower, and reasons to be encouraged in an 85–57 loss at Penn State Beaver on Tuesday.
Guard play set the tone early, as Samair Colon opened the game with a clean three-pointer on the Lions' first possession. Shenango continued to hunt quality looks from the perimeter and work the ball inside, but Beaver's early scoring run created separation heading into the half. The Lions' brightest spark was Gabrielle King, who delivered a standout performance with 20 points (9–12 FG), seven rebounds, two assists, two blocks, and a steal. King attacked the paint with confidence and sparked multiple offensive runs, especially during the second and third quarters.
Colon showcased her leadership with a 10-point, 10-assist double-double, guiding the offense and setting up teammates all night. Kayla Owen added eight points, including a momentum-shifting three in the second quarter, while Alyssa Crankfield grabbed eight rebounds and tallied three steals, providing an important defensive presence. Off the bench, Kimora Roberts brought energy with 10 points and six rebounds, powering Shenango's interior attack. Kylie Krupp knocked down a three and battled on both ends, and Bri Krenzer added productive minutes on the glass as Shenango continued competing deep into the fourth quarter.
