Penn State Shenango Women’s Basketball Volunteers at Zion Education Center
The Penn State Shenango Women's Basketball team recently spent time volunteering at the Zion Education Center in Farrell, Pennsylvania, where they engaged with children in activities designed to inspire and uplift. From helping with homework to playing games and sharing personal stories, the players brought energy and encouragement to the students they met.
The visit was part of the team's ongoing commitment to community service and giving back to the Shenango Valley.
"The impact our athletes make goes far beyond wins and losses," said Penn State Shenango Athletic Director Brandon Padgett. "Opportunities like this allow them to lead by example and build genuine connections that can shape young lives in powerful ways."
The Zion Education Center, which provides academic support and mentorship to local youth, welcomed the team with open arms. A post on their social media page read, "We always have such a blast when Coach Reid and our lady Penn State basketball friends come to visit—and today was no exception!"
Volunteer efforts like this continue to strengthen the bond between Penn State Shenango and its surrounding communities, showing that leadership, service, and teamwork extend well beyond the basketball court.
