Santiago’s Team High 29 Not Enough as Shenango Falls at Fayette
The Penn State Shenango Men's Basketball team saw their 2025-26 campaign come to a close on Tuesday night, falling 88-78 to top-seeded Penn State Fayette in the PSUAC Quarterfinals. While the loss marks the end of the road, Shenango pushed the West Division's best to the limit in a physical, high-stakes postseason battle.
Izzy Santiago capped off a spectacular season with a masterful performance, leading all scorers with 29 points. Santiago was relentless, attacking the rim and the perimeter for 40 minutes and finishing 11-of-22 from the floor. His leadership and scoring punch were the primary reasons Shenango remained within striking distance until the final minutes. Kevon Washington also saved one of his best perimeter games for the big stage, draining four three-pointers to finish with 18 points. Washington's ability to space the floor forced Fayette's defense to stay honest, creating lanes for his teammates throughout the night.
Devin Alston and Jordan Dotson provided the grit Shenango needed in the postseason atmosphere. Alston tallied 11 points and matched a team-high with three steals, while Dotson brought energy off the bench with 10 points, five rebounds, and two steals. Darius Williams facilitated the offense under heavy pressure, recording six assists and three steals, while Rhys Grocott battled a massive Fayette frontcourt to record two blocks and three rebounds before the size disadvantage on the glass (47-29 in favor of Fayette) eventually took its toll.
Despite the exit, the season was a significant step forward for the program. Shenango finishes the year at .500, highlighted by a thrilling double-overtime victory in the first round of the playoffs and a roster that proved they can compete with any team in the conference.
