Balanced Effort Powers Lions Past Lehigh Valley, 82–67
Penn State Shenango Men's Basketball turned in a complete performance on Saturday afternoon, building an early cushion and maintaining control to earn an 82–67 road win over Penn State Lehigh Valley at Cedar Crest College. The Lions led wire to wire, taking a 41–27 advantage into halftime and matching Lehigh Valley point for point in the second half to close out the victory.
Shenango set the tone early with pace, ball movement, and defensive pressure. The Lions forced tough looks and turnovers while converting efficiently on the other end, opening up a double-digit lead midway through the first half. Devin Alston knocked down multiple perimeter shots, and Kevon Washington mixed scoring with playmaking to keep the offense flowing. Shenango's defensive activity—highlighted by steals and contested shots—limited Lehigh Valley to 36 percent shooting in the opening half.
The second half saw Lehigh Valley attempt to chip away, but Shenango consistently answered. Jordan Dotson delivered a strong effort off the bench, finishing efficiently around the rim and battling on the glass to extend possessions. Darius Williams controlled the tempo, contributing on both ends with assists, steals, and timely free throws, while Izzy Santiago provided steady scoring to halt runs whenever momentum began to swing.
Defensively, the Lions stayed disciplined, closing out shooters and protecting the paint with help-side defense. Shenango finished with 13 steals and held Lehigh Valley to 27.3% shooting from three, preventing any sustained comeback. The Lions also capitalized at the free-throw line late, maintaining separation down the stretch.
Washington led Shenango with 19 points, five assists, and three steals, while Williams added 15 points, six assists, and seven steals in a standout two-way performance. Dotson chipped in 18 points on 8-of-10 shooting, and Alston finished with 13 points. With balanced scoring and strong defensive execution, Shenango closed the weekend with a convincing road win.
