Hot Shooting Keeps Lions Competitive, but Schuylkill Pulls Away Late
Penn State Shenango Men's Basketball turned in one of its best offensive shooting nights of the season on Friday, but a fast start by Penn State Schuylkill proved too much to overcome as the Lions fell 103–88 on the road. Shenango shot nearly 48% from the field and knocked down 13 three-pointers, but Schuylkill's efficiency and depth helped maintain separation throughout the night.
Schuylkill jumped out early, building a 47–30 halftime lead behind strong ball movement and interior scoring. Shenango battled to stay connected, getting consistent production from the perimeter while working to slow Schuylkill's transition attack. Despite the deficit, the Lions stayed aggressive and continued to generate quality looks.
The second half showcased Shenango's offensive firepower. Kevon Washington delivered a standout performance, burying seven three-pointers and finishing with 26 points, while adding energy on both ends with steals and rebounds. Izzy Santiago matched the pace all night, scoring 27 points on efficient shooting and mixing in assists, rebounds, and defensive pressure. The duo combined to keep Shenango within striking distance during multiple second-half runs.
Shenango also received important contributions throughout the lineup. Rhys Grocott controlled the paint with eight rebounds and two blocks, while Aidan Slocum provided a lift off the bench with nine points and four assists, including a timely three during a mid-half push. Jordan Dotson added toughness and effort plays, finishing with eight points, multiple offensive rebounds, and a steal that helped spark momentum late.
Despite trimming the margin several times in the second half, Schuylkill answered each surge with timely baskets and strong execution, finishing the night shooting 57.5 percent from the floor. Shenango continued to compete until the final horn, showing balance, shot-making, and resilience that will carry forward as conference play continues.
