Shenango MBB Opens Season with Competitive Effort at Bryant & Stratton (Buffalo)
BUFFALO, NY — November 1, 2025 — The Penn State Shenango Men's Basketball team tipped off its 2025–26 season on the road Saturday afternoon, putting together a strong offensive showing but ultimately falling 87–68 to Bryant & Stratton (Buffalo) at the Burt Flickinger Center.
Shenango kept pace early, trailing just 44–36 at halftime after several key scoring runs and consistent ball movement against the Bobcats' defense. The Lions shot 43.5% from the field and connected on eight three-pointers, keeping the contest competitive for much of the afternoon before Buffalo pulled away late in the second half.
Izzy Santiago led all Shenango scorers with 24 points on 10-of-17 shooting, adding six rebounds and steadying the offense with timely baskets throughout the game. Devin Alston added 11 points, knocking down three shots from beyond the arc, while Jordan Dotson provided a spark off the bench with 10 points and a pair of free throws.
Darius Williams contributed nine points, five rebounds, and five assists, while Kevon Washington added seven points and four assists. Rhys Grocott was active on the boards, finishing with seven rebounds and four points, helping Shenango battle evenly in the paint against a physical Bryant & Stratton frontcourt.
As a team, the Nittany Lions tallied 18 assists on 27 made field goals and recorded 34 total rebounds, showing balance and effort on both ends. Shenango held its own in shooting efficiency but was outpaced by a hot Bryant & Stratton lineup that shot 48.6% from the field and a perfect 8-for-8 from the free-throw line.
Penn State Shenango (0–1) will look to rebound quickly as they return to action Sunday, November 2, against Bryant & Stratton–Rochester. Tip-off is scheduled for 2:00 PM at the Burt Flickinger Center in Buffalo, New York.
