Shenango Pulls Away Late for 7-4 Road Win
Penn State Shenango (21-16, 14-6) put together a complete offensive performance and used a late surge to secure a 7-4 win on the road, highlighted by timely hitting and strong bullpen work down the stretch .
Shenango fell behind early after allowing a run in the first, but quickly answered in the second inning. The offense got on the board with with Dante Micaletti driving in a run on an RBI single and Josh Divens bringing in another with an RBI double, giving Shenango a 2-1 lead. After surrendering two runs in the third, Shenango once again responded immediately. In the fourth inning, the lineup came through with Nate Evans delivering a two-RBI double to flip the score back in Shenango's favor at 4-3.
The game tightened in the middle innings, but the pitching staff kept things under control. Tyler Houk worked through early trouble before the bullpen stepped in, with Jacob Csonka and Mason Walker combining to limit scoring opportunities and keep Shenango in front. Clinging to a one-run lead late, Shenango broke the game open in the ninth inning. The offense strung together quality at-bats, highlighted by Troy Bachman contributing with a sacrifice fly, and John Perry driving in a run with a single to extend the lead to 7-4.
On the mound, Mason Walker earned the win with three strong innings of relief, allowing just one run while striking out two. Brady Walker closed it out in the ninth, working through traffic to secure the save and seal the victory. Shenango finished with 15 hits on the day, showing depth throughout the lineup and consistent offensive pressure.
