Penn State DuBois Pulls Away Late in 13-3 Win Over Penn State Shenango
Penn State Shenango battled early but couldn't hold off a late offensive surge from Penn State DuBois, falling 13-3 in conference action on April 17 at Neshannock High School. The game was competitive through the first five innings, with Shenango tying it 3-3 in the bottom of the fourth thanks to a two-run home run by Jason Malley—his team-leading fourth of the season—and an RBI single from Dante Micaletti. Dominic Fornataro also sparked the offense, reaching base three times with a double and two walks, while Logan Cypher and Tyler Evans each chipped in with hits to round out Shenango's six-hit effort.
On the mound, the Shenango pitching staff held strong early. Starter Nick Osborne tossed two scoreless innings, giving up three hits and striking out two. JA Quahliero and Luke Atterholt followed with solid relief outings, but DuBois broke the game open in the sixth inning with a seven-run outburst. Despite cycling through seven pitchers, Shenango couldn't contain the DuBois offense down the stretch, surrendering 13 runs on 13 hits.
Although the final score was lopsided, Shenango showed resilience in the early innings and continued to flash power at the plate. Now sitting at 8-16 overall and 4-8 in the PSUAC, the Lions will look to regroup and carry their early-inning momentum into the next matchup as they fight to stay in postseason contention.
