SHARON, PA- With a 78-68 win on Saturday afternoon over Lehigh Valley (7-14, 6-12) combined with a Penn State Beaver loss at home 73-54 to Penn State York the Penn State Shenango Lions secured a second seed and a home game in the first round of te PSUAC Conference tournament. Shenango will face off Tuesday night versus Penn State Greater Allegheny at 7:00 pm at the Buhl Recreation Center. Greater Allegheny owns an identical 13-6 conference record but Shenango holds the tie breaker winning both regular season contests.
On Saturday, Penn State Shenango (14-11, 13-6) was led by the inside dominance of Anthony Bailey, Jr and Larry Ransom, Jr both registering double doubles. Bailey, Jr logged 16 points and 13 rebounds while the conferences rebounding leader Ransom, Jr scored 17 points and pulled down 21 off the boards. Brayden Martin had another impressive game with 21 points and 5 rebounds but got into foul trouble early that limited his time on the court.
The Lions faced off against the conferences' leading scorer Jeremiah Jenkins who posted more outstanding numbers with 32 points and was aided by Brandon Purrone with 14 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists.
The Lions dominated the boards all afternoon with a 49-23 team advantage and also burned up the charity stripe shooting 23 of 27.
