Monaca, Pa- Keon Butler canned two free throws with 40 seconds left on the second half clock to pull Penn State Beaver ahead for good as the Beaver Lions outlasted Penn State Shenango 55-50 on Wednesday night. Butler finished the night with 19 points and 4 rebounds while John Foster chipped in with 16 for Beaver.
In a closely fought contest from the opening tip, Penn State Shenango trailed by only one at the half, 26-25 but could get no closer despite shooting an impressive 20-41 from the floor on the night. Brayden Martin led Shenango with 13 points and 6 rebounds in playing all 40 minutes while Anthony Bailey, Jr. contributed with 9 points and 6 off the boards.
Penn State Beaver improved their record to 5-2 (3-1 in the conference) while Shenango falls to 3-4 (2-1) on the season.
Penn State Shenango is back at home versus Penn State Fayette on Friday night, currently with a record of 2-5, 2-1 on the season, at the Buhl Recreation Center.
